SPECIAL ORGANIC SOILS Stage1
This website belongs to the owner of a business located in the small country town of Ballan in Victoria. The business offers a mowing service, firewood delivery and organic garden products making the target audience for this site quite small. We originally designed and built the first website in 2004 when all the company wanted was a basic online presence. Below is the original web site design.

 Stage 2
The owners decided they wanted a more professional look for their site and approached the team at By Wild for advice. We advised them the amount of business the site generated could be increased if we lifted the profile of the web site.

We used a niche marketing strategy and redesigned the web site to increase the number of local visitors to the site. The town of Ballan only has a population of 1400 people so the market is fairly small but the owner does all the work himself so this is not a problem for him.

On completion of this step we were able to get links in DMOZ or Open Directory Project and various other high quality sites. This has led to a steady, though small, stream of visitors to his web site. The owner sold out of his last batch of compost and he tells us this is the first time that has happened.

 Stage 3
We started with a completely new web site design so now was the time to add improvements. We have had great success on various other sites with placing a "Quick Message" box on every page of the web site instead of just the "Contact Us" page. We decided to add this to the design of this web site and make it simple for customers to quickly send a message. We incorporated the old logo into the design of the new web site so letterheads and business cards still had the same feeling as the web site.
